About

We study the design of technology from multidisciplinary perspectives for a broad range of contexts. We promote inclusion & participation by integrating people, social and human value concerns in designing technological futures.

Our Human-Computer Interaction (HCI) group draws across relevant technical / engineering and social sciences research to make a contribution to the design of technology, particularly mobile, tangible and sensor-based technologies. Our research contributions are conceptual, methodological and practical. Our multidisciplinary group combines disciplines like informatics, engineering, psychology, sociology, medical-informatics, design, philosophy, and media arts. We apply our research to diverse domains, with shared concerns for how to promote inclusion & participation in designing technological futures, acceptance & adoption of new technologies, motivations & experiences of people, and values, ethics and social impact of information & communication technologies.

The research Unit Human Computer Interaction is part of the Institute of Visual Computing and Human-Centered Technology.
