About

Benefits for Your Business

A sponsored thesis project offers an excellent opportunity to both the company and the student to combine science and practice, to conduct application-oriented research and to solve current practical problems. By choosing to sponsor our students’ projects you are commissioning a graduate to conduct research for your organization under the supervision of an academic expert in the field, with access to the latest technology and facilities in our areas of expertise.

Individual thesis projects provide mutual benefit to business and student. Typically, a student working at master level undertakes a project on a task relevant to business that can be tailored to meet a challenge you face.

You not only benefit from a high calibre student or graduate to work in a research area of strategic importance to you as a sponsor but a talent pipeline for your business and applied work experience for our students. Master students who work on a sponsored thesis are provided with a contact person within the commissioning company and an academic supervisor at TU Wien Informatics, ensuring that the work adheres to our high academic and formal standards.

Master Students

Why Work with Our Students?

Our students are among the best in their field and combine their skills and specialist knowledge with the refinement acquired through our intensive master degree programs. They have received a scientifically and methodically profound education that is focused on lasting knowledge. Students come from a wide range of backgrounds, offering a unique international perspective as they learn.

Guidelines

Sponsored Thesis vs. Standard Thesis

If the question or problem definition of a thesis arises from the scientific interest of an institute and if a company is involved as a partner for case studies, evaluation or practical implementation (or similar), the immediate benefit accrues to the institute. Therefore, there is no “industrial diploma thesis” within the meaning of this directive.

If the thesis’s question or problem goes out of a company, the company benefits directly from the scientific answer or solution. Such a diploma thesis is regarded as an “industrial diploma thesis,” and the company must compensate for scientific supervision.
