About
Research focus of the research unit addresses high-performance and energy-efficient computing, cloud and edge computing, hybrid classical-quantum systems, and workflow technologies.
Key topics include:
- Cloud and Edge Computing: Developing methods for resource management, quality of service (QoS), and sustainability in distributed computing environments, including federated and self-manageable cloud infrastructures.
- Sustainable Computing: Utilizing AI and machine learning for environmental monitoring, energy management, and sustainability
- Hybrid Classical-Quantum Systems: Exploring integration and workflow management between quantum and classical computing systems to enable next-generation non von-Neumann scientific applications.
- Energy Efficiency: Designing algorithms and frameworks for energy-aware computing, especially in large-scale, distributed, and volatile environments such as edge and IoT systems.
- Symbolic and Machine Learning on the Edge: Efficient machine learning workflows for edge devices, including time series classification and adaptive symbolic representation.
The research Unit Computational Sustainability is part of the Institute of Computer Engineering.
