Number One in Austria, 25th in Europe, and 84th in the world

TU Wien Informatics continues to strengthen its stature as a leading faculty in Computer Science, standing at 84th on the global scale and 25th in Europe. From over 1000 universities assessed, TU Wien Informatics rose 9 ranks from the previous year, solidifying its place in the global top 10%. TU Wien Informatics improved in all ranking categories, with the best rated being industry relations, research quality and international outlook.

On the national front, TU Wien Informatics consistently holds its premier position, heading the THE Computer Science Subject Ranking among Austrian institutions. Presently, the faculty is ranked 9th in the German-speaking region.

About the THE Subject Ranking for Computer Science

THE (Times Higher Education) World University Rankings provide a list of the world’s best universities, with an emphasis on the research mission. It is the only global university league table to judge research-intensive universities across all of their core missions: teaching (the learning environment); research (volume, income, and reputation); citations (research influence); industry income (knowledge transfer), and international outlook (staff, students and research). It uses 13 carefully calibrated performance indicators to provide the most comprehensive and balanced comparisons. The overall list is accompanied by 11 subject-specific rankings. The subject rankings employ a methodology carefully recalibrated for each subject, with the weightings changed to suit the individual fields. The weightings for the computer science ranking are: Teaching 30%, Research 30%, Citations 27.5%, International outlook 7.5%, Industry income 5%.
