The UNIKATE Prize celebrates ideas that drive the development of inclusive technologies, empowering people with disabilities to live more independently and participate equally in society. Developed in collaboration with people with disabilities, UNIKATE ideas and prototypes foster a more inclusive society built on mutual respect.

We’re therefore excited to announce the launch of the UNIKATE Ideas Competition 2027. The competition is open to students from high schools, HTLs, and universities with creative minds and technical backgrounds who want to develop inclusive technologies together with people with disabilities. Five selected projects will each receive €1,250 to develop a prototype, and teams that successfully complete their prototypes will receive an additional €2,000.

We invite participants to submit their ideas by November 3, 2026. The best submissions will be invited to an Incubator Workshop at TU Wien on November 24, 2026, where inclusive teams can refine their concepts and further develop their ideas. Throughout the process, teams will be supported by researchers from TU Wien Informatics. More information is available in the call for applications.
