Call for Applications: ASAI Award 2026
The Austrian Society for Artificial Intelligence is looking for submissions for the best Master and Diploma Thesis Prize!
The Austrian Society for Artificial Intelligence (ASAI) awards the best Master and Diploma Thesis Prize to promote and recognize outstanding young researchers working in the field of Artificial Intelligence.
Submit your thesis by June 7, 2026! Two prizes, each endowed with €2,000, will be awarded. The selection will be based on the originality, scientific quality, and written quality of the work, as well as its scientific, economic, or societal relevance. Submitted theses will be evaluated by a jury appointed by ASAI. All jury members are bound to maintain confidentiality. Decisions are final and not subject to legal appeal. The jury also reserves the right not to award any thesis.
The ASAI best Master and Diploma Thesis Prize is organized by Thomas Eiter (TU Wien) and Robert Legenstein (TU Graz).

Requirements
- The thesis must have been defended at an Austrian university
- The research topic is from the general area of Artificial Intelligence or Machine Learning
- The thesis was accepted in 2025 (date of formal approval)
- The thesis is the first Master’s Thesis of the submitting person in a computer science-related study.
If a thesis is nominated for another national or international award before or during its review for the ASAI award, the author is requested to inform the organizers accordingly.
Submission
The submission must include
- The thesis as a PDF file
- A four-page summary in English
- A file with the declaration of the author that they fulfill all requirements
- An agreement to publish the summary of the thesis on the ASAI webpage
The documents must be submitted via email as a ZIP file to prize@asai.ac.at and must follow the naming convention lastname_firstname.zip. The ZIP file may not exceed 7 MB.
