UNIKATE Ideas Competition
The call for the UNIKATE 2024 is now open – students can apply for the competition with their ideas for inclusive technologies.
The UNIKATE Prize celebrates ideas that lead to new inclusive technologies, allowing people with disabilities to experience greater autonomy and equality in society. UNIKATE ideas and prototypes facilitate a shared life of mutual respect and are developed together with people with disabilities.
We’re excited to announce the launch of the UNIKATE Ideas Competition for 2023/2024. The prize is directed towards students (school, HTL, university) with creative minds and technical backgrounds who aspire to develop inclusive technology in collaboration with individuals with disabilities. Five winning ideas will be selected, awarding the applicants up to € 1000 in resources to build their prototypes. At the award ceremony in September 2024, teams that finished their prototypes will receive a prize of € 2000.
We’re inviting participants to submit their unique projects and innovative ideas by November 3, 2023. Find more info in the call for applications:

Subsequent to the submission deadline, an Incubator Workshop will be hosted at TU Wien Informatics in late November. This will offer a fantastic opportunity for inclusive teams to form and develop their ideas further. The teams will be supported by researchers from TU Wien Informatics.
UNIKATE is a collaborative project between UNIQA, the Austrian Disability Council, and TU Wien Informatics’ Research Unit for Human-Computer Interaction. The annual competition provides a platform for inclusivity and shared development of innovative ideas. Find more info about winning prototypes of the last competitions here.
