“Ways of Thinking in Informatics” Wins Award at Ars Docendi
A team around Peter Purgathofer receives an award at Ars Docendi, Austrian State Prize for Good Teaching, for their course of “Ways of Thinking in Informatics”.
Ars Docendi, the Austrian State Prize for Good Teaching, imparted an award of distinction to Peter Purgathofer, Silvia-Kay Kender, Naemi Luckner, Michael Urbanek, Rafael Vrecar (TU Wien) and Christopher Frauenberger (Paris-Lodron University Salzburg). The award for the submitted course Ways of Thinking in Informatics was justified by the international jury in the category Methods of Distance Learning and their Sustainable Use with the following words:
“The aim of this impressive teaching project is the clear structure with which the individual topics of the event were prepared. This is characterized by a mixture of provided information and opportunities for specialization, which are implemented in a wide variety of digital settings, taking into account both the individuality in learning processes and the needs of students to be able to exchange ideas with their peers and teachers. It is a quality feature of this course that communication and contact between the participants are made possible and promoted in such a targeted manner. […] All in all, the underlying media didactic concept is able to combine the change between synchronous and asynchronous, individual and collaborative elements in an impressive way, so that here is a course that makes clear where the opportunities of distance teaching lie, and how distance teaching can be an enrichment, especially for large courses.”
Ars Docendi is the only award in Austria for outstanding teaching achievements in all four university sectors. The nominations and suggestions are judged by a top-class jury made up of international experts.
Congratulations to the whole team!
