Lukas Lehner: eduLAB
Lukas Lehner, PhD student, likes to get to the bottom of things – and teach others all about what he finds out.
Lukas Lehner, PhD student, likes to get into the nitty-gritty of things: his research focus is on didactics of computer science, with a special interest in the knowledge transfer of all things Artificial Intelligence (AI). He co-coordinates eduLAB, an outreach program that offers workshops for children and young adults, starting at the age of 7.
What’s special about eduLAB? Most of the workshops are “unplugged,” meaning that content about algorithms, coding, or Artificial Intelligence (AI) is taught through non-digital means. Another noteworthy thing about eduLAB: they offer all outreach activities for free. What Lukas enjoys most about his work (and, of course, computer science) is that he can get to the bottom of things – and afterward, teach his findings to others in a way so that they can enjoy it too!
The goal of eduLAB is to make computer science understandable for everyone and to offer a low-threshold entry point into computer science, no matter how complex the topic. With its exploratory, playful, and hands-on approach, eduLAB reaches out to over a thousand students each semester with the hope of sparking interest and curiosity for the next generation of computer scientists.
