Abstract
We will argue for the claim of the title in the areas of algebra, theoretical computer science, and theoretical physics. In algebra, we will consider the random graph. For theoretical computer science, we will give a probabilistic construction of Scott domains and show that with probability 1 our construction produces a universal homogeneous domain. Finally, we consider causal sets which have been used as basic models for discrete space-time in quantum gravity.
About Manfred Droste
Manfred Droste received a Diploma in Mathematics from the Universität Essen, a Master of Arts degree from Bowling Green State University, and completed his PhD and habilitation at the Universität Essen. In 1993, he became a Professor at the Dresden University of Technology at the Institute of Algebra. In 2004, he was appointed Professor at the University of Leipzig at the Institute of Computer Science, where he heads the group of Automata and Formal Languages. His research interests lie in algebra and theoretical computer science, and he has published approximately 200 scientific papers. He has also served as (co-)editor of 22 special issues of journals and books. He is a member of Academia Europaea and has received an honorary doctorate from the Immanuel Kant Baltic Federal University in Kaliningrad.
