1 Million Milestone for Digital Humanism
Digital Humanism is not just a one-in-a-million initiative - the Digital Humanism books have now been accessed over a million times!
We are delighted to announce that the book titles from the Digital Humanism family “Introduction to Digital Humanism” and “Perspectives on Digital Humanism” have been accessed over 1 million times!
The books aim to establish a foundation for research and action in the field of Digital Humanism. The first book, Introduction to Digital Humanism, examines the field through a collection of essays by authors from diverse disciplines, including computer science, philosophy, education, law, economics, history, anthropology, political science, and sociology. The second book, Perspectives on Digital Humanism, serves as a textbook for students, educators, and policymakers interested in the field. It is designed for both independent use and as a complementary resource for courses in computer science and curricula across engineering, humanities, and social sciences. Each chapter includes engaging questions for students and an annotated reading list to encourage deeper exploration of the topics. Both books provide readers with a comprehensive understanding of digital advancements and their implications for humanity, presenting actionable ideas and strategies to ensure that our collective digital future remains guided by human values and agency.
Our thanks go out to the editors, authors, and co-authors, without whom the publication of these books would not have been possible. Our heartfelt thanks go out to Hannes Werthner, who has initiated, supported, and promoted the Digital Humanism Initiative from day one, and to you, our readers - without your interest, these books would not have achieved their success.
You can access and download a digital copy of both books for free on the Springer website.
