5 Years of the Vienna Manifesto on Digital Humanism

In 2019, TU Wien Informatics invited over 100 international scholars from a broad range of disciplines. Their aim was to discuss the broader implications of the digital transformation on society and to form an initiative to take action towards a more human- and environment centered technology that respects human rights and promotes inclusion, individual agency, and democracy. Their goals and demands were released as the Vienna Manifesto on Digital Humanism, which found widespread support across academia, civil service, industry, and society.

Since then, the initiative grew through a variety of activities, including the Digital Humanism Lecture Series, two highly circulated compendia, and the Digital Humanism Summer School, this year already in its third edition. We take this occasion to celebrate 5 years of the Vienna Manifesto on Digital Humanism, to look back at what has been achieved so far, to discuss the steps ahead, and to reflect on the alliances that brought us here and that we need to form in order to continue our success story.

Join us for the celebration!
