THE University Ranking 2023: TU Wien Informatics Climbs Up the Ladder
Placing 1st in Austria and 93rd worldwide, TU Wien Informatics excels once again at the THE Ranking and improves its overall position.
Number One in Austria, 28th in Europe, and 93rd in the world
TU Wien Informatics further improves its position as one of the top-ranked faculties in Computer Science, placing 93rd worldwide and 28th in Europe. Among 974 evaluated universities, TU Wien Informatics advanced 4 places compared to the previous year, again placing in the top 10% worldwide.
In a national comparison, TU Wien Informatics maintains its longstanding paramount position, leading the THE Computer Science Subject Ranking of Austrian universities. The faculty currently comes in at the 10th place in the German-speaking region.
About the THE Subject Ranking for Computer Science
THE (Times Higher Education) World University Rankings provide a list of the world’s best universities, with an emphasis on the research mission. It is the only global university league table to judge research-intensive universities across all of their core missions: teaching (the learning environment); research (volume, income, and reputation); citations (research influence); industry income (knowledge transfer), and international outlook (staff, students and research). It uses 13 carefully calibrated performance indicators to provide the most comprehensive and balanced comparisons. The overall list is accompanied by 11 subject-specific rankings. The subject rankings employ a methodology carefully recalibrated for each subject, with the weightings changed to suit the individual fields. The weightings for the computer science ranking are: Teaching 30%, Research 30%, Citations 27.5%, International outlook 7.5%, Industry income 5%.
