What a day for our Research Unit Virtual and Augmented Reality!
It’s not every day that news about our research travels as fast as it did today - read all about our Experts on Euronews and Snap’s donation of AR Spectacles.
We love to see our faculty members on TV – but it’s especially worthy of mention if someone like Professor A Min Tjoa incidentally catches a glimpse of our researchers on TV halfway across the world and writes an e-mail about it to our dean! But that’s not all: Our Research Unit for Virtual and Augmented Reality, which was featured on Euronews (see video below) and which is headed by Hannes Kaufmann, has gotten three AR Spectacles from market leader and pioneer Snap, Inc. The spectacles are not only cutting-edge, but they’re not even commercially available in Europe yet! Snap donated three AR Spectacles to the Research Unit during a visit from Senior Director of Software Engineering at Snap Daniel Wagner.
The Euronews piece also features CAIML Director Clemens Heitzinger from the Research Unit Machine Learning, who talks about AI and Machine Learning in medical settings.
Thanks to Snap, Inc. for this extraordinary donation and congratulations to Hannes Kaufmann, who has traveled the world today without having set foot on a plane!
