We’re pleased to announce that Katja Hose has been appointed as a Program Committee Co-Chair of the 53rd International Conference on Very Large Data Bases!
The Very Large Data Bases (VLDB) conference is a premier international forum for researchers, practitioners, and industry experts in data management and scalable data science. It features a comprehensive program including research presentations, keynotes, panels, tutorials, demonstrations, industry tracks, and workshops covering the full spectrum of data management systems, architectures, applications, and their underlying theory.
Katja will share the Program Co-Chair position with Matthias Boehm, Lead at the Berlin Institute for the Foundations of Learning and Data, and Professor at Technische Universität Berlin. As Program Committee Co-Chairs for VLDB 2027, they will also serve as Editors-in-Chief of the Proceedings of the VLDB Endowment. Katja’s appointment as PC Co-Chair reflects her outstanding contributions to data management and knowledge engineering, with particular focus on graph data management, knowledge graphs, and applied machine learning.

About Katja Hose
Katja Hose is a Professor at TU Wien Informatics, where she leads the Data Management and Knowledge-Driven AI Lab at the Research Unit Databases and Artificial Intelligence. She had prior positions at Aalborg University, the Max Planck Institute for Informatics, and received her PhD from Ilmenau University of Technology.
Her research is rooted in data management and knowledge engineering, with a particular focus on graph data management, knowledge graphs, data integration, and applied machine learning.
She has co-authored more than 150 peer-reviewed publications and serves on the editorial boards of leading journals such as the VLDB Journal, the Semantic Web Journal (SWJ), and Transactions on Graph Data and Knowledge (TGDK). In addition, she contributes to the international research community in various organizational and program committee roles at flagship conferences, including VLDB, SIGMOD, EDBT, ISWC, ESWC, and TheWebConf.
