Number One in Austria, 17th in Europe, and 71st in the world

TU Wien Informatics continues to strengthen its stature as a leading faculty in Computer Science, ranking 71st globally and 17th in Europe! From over 1100 universities across 84 countries, TU Wien Informatics rose 7 ranks from the previous year, solidifying its place in the global top 10%. TU Wien Informatics saw improvements in the core pillars Research Environment, Research Quality, and Industry.

On the national front, TU Wien Informatics consistently ranks 1st, leading the THE Computer Science Subject Ranking among Austrian institutions. In the German-speaking region, the faculty is currently ranked 6th.

About the THE Subject Ranking for Computer Science

THE (Times Higher Education) World University Rankings rank the world’s best universities, with an emphasis on research. It is the only global university league table to judge research-intensive universities across all of their core missions: Teaching (the learning environment); Research environment (volume, income, and reputation); Research quality (research influence); Industry (knowledge transfer), and International outlook (staff, students, and research). It uses 18 performance indicators to provide the most comprehensive and balanced comparisons. The overall list is accompanied by 11 subject-specific rankings. The subject rankings employ a methodology carefully recalibrated for each subject, with the weightings changed to suit the individual fields. The weightings for the computer science ranking are: Teaching 28%, Research Environment 29%, Research Quality 27.5%, International Outlook 7.5%, and Industry 8%.
